Celebrate Endangered Species Day!

Celebrate Endangered Species Day!
May 18th is Endangered Species Day, however at the Tijuana Estuary we celebrate endangered species every day.  Five endangered and two threatened species of birds, and one endangered plant are sheltered with the Reserve’s boundary:
  • California Least Tern
  • Light-footed Clapper Rail
  • California Brown Pelican
  • Least Bell’s Vireo
  • Belding’s Savannah Sparrow
  • Western Snowy Plover
  • California Gnatcatcher
  • Salt Marsh Bird’s Beak
These species all depend on the protection of critical estuarine habitats for their survival.
