Saturday, December 7, 2013, 9am-1pm: Oak Planting at Rancho Jamul Ecological Reserve
The main entrance road to Rancho Jamul skirts along Jamul Creek. Many Sycamore trees line the edge of the stream, but historically, this area almost certainly included many oaks as well. Hundreds of native species rely on oak trees and they are under threat from drought and pests. Join us to replant oaks along this stream corridor and support native habitat for generations to come.

Saturday, November 23, 2013, 9:30am-12pm: Photomonitoring for Conservation

In partnership with the Conservation Biology Institute, EDI will train volunteers to help monitor changes in vegetation in sensitive habitat or restoration areas. Photodocumentation is an important feature of scientifically significant monitoring and restoration, and an activity with which volunteers can provide valuable support to conservation. If you’d like to be part of this work, see changes over time, and be able to visit areas often closed to general use and be a partner in their preservation or recovery, please join us. This will require some simple use of orienting equipment and cameras. Almost all sites are on established roads and trails, and all sites are marked. RSVPs are required so we can be sure to have the necessary supplies and equipment.  http://www.earthdiscovery.org/index.php/sign-up-for-an-event, or contact us at info@earthdiscovery.org or 619-447-4715.
