Riparian Habitat Restoration, Saturday, October 20, 2012
With the US Bureau of Land Management
Saturday, October 20, 2012, 8:30am – 1pm
The BLM’s Sycamore Canyon area off Highway 94 has suffered through both the Otay Fire of 2003 and the Harris Fire of 2007. Your help is needed to bring back the oak, willow, and sycamore trees that once graced this canyon and supported its wildlife. Please join us to clear weeds and prepare planting areas for later in the fall.
Meet at Rancho Jamul Ecological Reserve at 8:30a.m. for orientation. We’ll carpool/caravan to the site, about 10 minutes away. Wear long pants, a hat, and sturdy shoes. Bring sunscreen or rain protection, as the weather indicates. Bring water and a water bottle if you have one. Water and snacks will be provided. We are happy to sign for community service or extra credit hours. To RSVP, and for directions or for more information contact Cathy Chadwick, info@earthdiscovery.org or 619-277-3605.
